Musculo-Skeletal Disorders (MSDs) is a term describing a
range of painful and debilitating complaints to which anyone can fall victim. They have been known
by many terms, including "Repetitive Strain Injuries" (or RSI),
"Occupational Overuse Syndrome" (or OOS), "Cumulative Trauma Disorders"
(or CTD) - and so on.
MSDs, OOS and RSI conditions are not confined to the workplace. Those who play musical instruments, knit, play sport (notably golf and racquet sports like tennis or squash), use cash registers or word processors or do any repetitive tasks for long periods are potential victims. Not many sufferers realise that overuse injuries can, in most cases, easily be prevented.
